Nice to see one of my favorite Roy Wood songs on here. I was a naive pop-loving kind in the 1970s and couldn't understand why all of these great records I learned about from "Phonograph Record Magazine" were being ignored by radio...
That was a perennial thought of mine for many years, though I was too busy listening to Barry Manilow in 1975, I think - I was a late bloomer into really good music.
I gave up on the dinosaur of FM Rock somewhere around the beginning of 1973 when I realized that a lot of what I listened to (Bowie, Roxy, T.Rex) was being ignored by it entirely (despite the revisionist stories they told later) and the rest all comfortably straddled the gap from FM to Top 40. But somewhere along the line I made it to a Barry Manilow concert as well (around the time of "Weekend in New England"), I've seen worse.
